Move Your Feet!

Don’t ask God to guide your footsteps if you’re not willing to move your feet.Unknown

Climb into a stationary automobile and attempt to turn the steering wheel.

Oh, it can be done - but it's not easy, and it won't get you anywhere. But if you start he vehicle moving - even if only slightly - the steering gets much easier...and you'll end up getting somewhere.

Often we are frustrated because the very thing we say we want the most seems farthest from our grasp: the Will of God for our lives. We pray, we listen...we wish for a dream or a vision, or a word of prophecy...but nothing seems to materialize. We know God has a plan for us, a purpose – but why can't we find it? Why is there no direction?

If we can start the vehicle of our life in motion, the steering will be easier.

Have you heard from God in the past? Is there a general purpose that He has shown you? Perhaps a message preached that pierced the comfort zone of your soul and left you acutely aware that God was speaking to you?

What did you do about it?

If you want further direction, why not start your feet in motion? If you are under a local pastor, why not go to him and share with him your feeling, and get his counsel? Often, that is where further direction will come soonest. Certainly, it is where the most immediate direction will be.

After that (or if you aren't under a local church pastor), why not start doing something about it? If God has called you to missions, why not start learning a language? Studying cultures? Witnessing to people of other lands? Why not look into planning a (well-coordinated) visit to another country, perhaps in the area where you feel burdened? Test the waters. Start an ethnic outreach. Do something.

Once the feet are in motion, direction will come...

  1. Bro Nix,
Thank You for the encouraging words and the reminder that sometimes we have to put our feet in motion to get the answers from God about his further direction in our life. If I may say this, these words and this post was needed.
    Thank You again! God Bless!
