“Don't complain to yourselves that you can't go to the mission field! Thank God for bringing the mission field to you!” ––Brother Andrew (God's Smuggler)
These words have never been truer. The political debate rages (and rightly so) as to the
huge risks entailed in bringing to our shores scores of thousands –or even millions– of refugees, many of whom hate us in spite of their great need. Illegal immigration, another sore point with many who feel it harms those who immigrate legally, is also on the increase.
It is time that the Church open its eyes to the reality of what the well-known author and Cold War Bible smuggler, "Brother Andrew," was saying: In an age where less missionaries are going, God has brought the mission field inside our borders.
Arise, Missionary! The field awaits you...just outside your front door.
Your so right Brother Nix, almost a year ago we had close to 30 people walk into our church that speak Congo, Burundi and Swahili all from Africa, they fled persecution and the horrendous mess going on there. We first started with an interpreter but now we actually have a service for them on Saturday. There definitely is a communication barrier but I go out of my way to greet them and make them feel welcomed, they in return try to speak English. We asked them how they came about our church and they said driving by, they saw the holiness dressing, they said among themselves that is where we will start going to church. These people are so humble and their colorful and unique dressing is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI do believe we are missionaries within our American borders…I feel we didn’t have the means to travel to a foreign country so God has brought them here so we can share the Gospel.
Here is my post I wrote about these people on my blog, thought I share it with you!
