Reagan - Steadfast MK

You almost weren't born...the cord was too short. After 39 hours of labor, the knife made the way, and we heard your voice for the first time.

I'm so glad He chose not to take you at that time, but let you bring us the joy that you always have.

You already had a name, picked with greatest care: Reagan for the royalty we hoped you would become as a child of our King; Ethan, because we hoped you would be just that: Steadfast, Enduring. Living for God, keeping your testimony, acting like Royalty, getting ready for Heaven and Eternity, and all the rewards that are available to steadfast, faithful Royal servants. Missionary Kid Reagan...quite a guy. Peruvian saints of God loved little tow-headed You, with your two cowlicks and mischievous grin.
So did I. So do I.

I watched your early tenderness towards God, and harbored high hopes that some day He just might call you, along with your brothers, to preach this glorious, saving Gospel - or if He doesn't, if that isn't His plan for you, that He would use you mightily in His Kingdom...in whatever way He chooses.

Who knows? He just might. You've taken some very important steps in the right direction, certainly. I am so happy that the past year saw you repent, receive the Holy Ghost, and be baptized in His Name - the ONLY Name that saves! There are hurdles you face, but you now have Someone to lift you over them...lean on Him, Son. Learn His voice, His touch. He won't fail you. Learn to speak with Him often. Fall in love with Him, with His Word, with His presence. Spend a lot of time there.

You may never read a boring old blog; maybe you will. Be that as it may, I still needed to write it down, because...today is February 24th...

Today, you turn 14. Fourteen years old...the age I was when I said "Yes" to His urgently calling voice.

Hear Him, Reagan. Don't say No...surrender to His will. You'll never be sorry. I know.

Happy Birthday.

With Love,

Your Proud Daddy

P.S.  And to any other young, teenage young man or young lady who might glance this way and find these words: I don't regret for a moment saying "Yes" when I did. It's a good life, serving the Lord. It's an even better life, getting to serve Him as a missionary.

If He calls, say Yes. You won't be sorry.
